English Placement (ITSWE) - Institutional

Institutional TSWE Placement MAY BE TAKEN ONLY ONCE

Institutional TSWE Placement is given every week on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m..  However, during peak times, additional days are offered.

Fee:  $10.00 (NON-REFUNDABLE)
Duration:  Thirty minutes
Results available:  Next day afternoon

All students who enroll in ENGL 1303 - Freshman Composition I will need to provide a TASP writing score of 240. Proof of the score is required at the first class meeting. If you have not taken the TASP, English Placement exam may be required. This placement exam is a 30-minute multiple-choice test and may be taken only once.

The criteria for Placement in ENGL 1300 and ENGL 1303 for Native English Speakers are as follows:

1. ENGL 1300 -Basic Writing: A score of less than 40 on ITSWE or TSWE, or a score of less than 17 on the ACT English Usage prior to 10/89, or a score of less than 19 on the ACT English Usage, or a score of less than 240 on TASP Writing
2. ENGL 1303 - Freshman Composition I: A score of at least 40 on ITSWE or TSWE, or a score of at least 17 on the ACT English Usage prior to 10/89, or a score of at least 19 on the ACT English Usage, or a score of at least 240 on the TASP Writing
