MISSION STATEMENT
 The mission of University Testing Services(UTS) is to provide comprehensive testing and assessment services. These services include administration of admission, placement, credit by exam, psychological batteries, correspondence examinations from other universities, and professional certification and licensing examinations.

Like the University's mission, we were developed to facilitate the access and placement of diverse student groups, to enhance and facilitate the learning process and to benefit current, past and future students, as well as citizens of the greater Houston area.
SERVICES
ASSESSMENT SERVICES
  University Testing Services offers assessment services by administering vocational, psychological, and educational batteries. These instruments help students determine their vocational interests, strengths, and weaknesses in order to assist them in developing their academic, career, and personal goals.
COMPUTER-BASED TESTING
  Currently, University Testing Services offers several computer-based versions of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP), the College Level Entrance Program (CLEP) test, and PRAXIS Series tests. Students can register by telephone for all of these tests.

To register for TASP-CAT, please call 512.927.5100.

Some placement tests are offered on the computer on a daily basis.

  We offer a wide range of services throughout the semester to the faculty of University of Houston:

  • Test Development
  • Credit by exam selection consultation
  • Placement test consultation for validation
  • Scholarly review of tests and test materials
  • Consultation about standardized testing

  • COURSE TESTING SUPPORT
    We offer faculty the following course testing support services:

  • Administration of make-up exams
  • Administrations to students requiring special accommodations
  • Administration of tests in support of programs, e.g. certification tests

  • CREDIT BY EXAMINATION
    University Testing Services offers Credit by Examination options enabling students to receive credit for prior learning and enroll in advanced courses.

  • INSTITUTIONAL TESTING
    The institutional tests offered by the University Testing Services are for prospective UH students. Please consult the Institutional Testing brochure for further information and details on each exam.

  • PLACEMENT TESTING
    Placement tests are administered to assess the student’s level of mastery and assist in placing students in appropriate courses. Placement tests do NOT allow the students to receive credit unless specified. Please consult the Placement Testing brochure for further information and details of each test.

  • CORRESPONDENCE/DISTANCE EDUCATION TESTING
    The University Testing Service serves as a proctor site for numerous university and institution nationally and internationally. The tests may be in the traditionally paper and pencil, or delivered on the web.

    Students attending other colleges may have their examinations administered at the University of Houston. Students must have the other university mail test materials to the University of Houston.
    NATIONAL TEST BULLETINS
    Registration materials for most national test programs can be obtained at University Testing Services. These tests usually take place on Saturdays and registration is via mail to the test company. The University of Houston also serves as a test site for major national tests:
